The following video clips and materials arose out of a two year ESRC funded project around the use of video with young people in a range of participatory research projects. The materials are split into two sections the first ‘Differing Approaches’ looks at the use of video in a wide range of projects and is based on the work of six different researchers and groups. Each case study is a short five minute discussion by these researchers about their approaches and the issues they have faced in working in this way. The second section ‘Differing Issues’ is based on our own work. We discuss our responses to the methodological and ethical issues we faced at various stages of projects in which we have used video.
These materials are intended to support new and experienced researchers in their use of video. If you would like to have a dvd version of these materials they can be ordered from us, free of charge, by emailing kaye.haw@nottingham.ac.uk or mark.hadfield@wlv.ac.uk.
